One recipe, three generations of neighbors
The Humble Crumb is what happens when a family recipe refuses to stay small.
The cinnamon roll recipe came first — shared with Ruth by a friend in Kansas years before any of this existed. Ruth raised 8 kids on it. Her daughter-in-law Betsy, raising 7 of her own with her husband Eli, knew it was too good to keep in the family.
In 2012 they took it public: a table at the Sherwood Farmer’s Market on Tuesday nights, selling rolls in the Arkansas heat — 104 degrees, some evenings. Saturdays they added the market in Little Rock. Betsy’s sister Tori joined, and her blueberry muffins joined the lineup.
The rolls kept outselling the space to bake them. In the fall of 2014, Eli converted Betsy’s garage into a licensed commercial kitchen, and in January 2015 the family officially opened for business — and hired 9 women from the community to keep up.
By August 2017 the garage was too small, too. The family bought an old daycare at 110 Loop Road in Sherwood and turned it into the bakery you can visit today: a dine-in café, a gift shop, three rooms for gathering, and the same recipe that started it all, iced fresh every morning.

Ruth and Betsy start selling cinnamon rolls at the Sherwood Farmer’s Market on Tuesday nights, then Saturdays at the Little Rock market. Tori’s blueberry muffins join the table.

Still a family table
